Season of the witch

Community. This word has been slipping its way into my life for the past few months in a variety of ways. I think it’s probably happy I’m finally letting it sink into my heart fully.
I spent last weekend at a writing conference for children’s authors and illustrators. It was incredibly encouraging and inspiring. So inspiring in fact, that I promised myself I’d get more involved in the local in-person community of “kidlit” (kid’s literature) creators.
I applied for the local mentor program. And a scholarship that pays for it. Just the process of sharing my work sample with the review committee gave me an excited feeling. These people all live in Colorado, and regardless of whether or not I’m selected to be a 2026 mentee for the program, I put myself out there and the potential to strengthen the connection is now a reality.
So what’s all this have to do with witches?
Not much, except that I like to joke that I’m a witch 365 days a year so I don’t dress up on Halloween as one. No need to fear, I’m not about curses or dark magic. Ethical integrity is the key to my witchy skills, which requires me to live in the frequency of love. Choosing love over fear sounds simple, but in practice it requires dismantling thought and physiological patterns on the regular. Community helps too, which is why my friend/co-creator/business partner and I are combining our witchy skills to make some magic. More on that to come.
